Suzann Pettersen has admitted she’d love to captain Europe in the Solheim Cup.
Pettersen was a wildcard select from captain Catriona Matthew before announcing her retirement and she honored Matthew’s faith handsomely on the 18th to spark wild celebrations.
Pettersen – after taking out time to get a baby in 2017, originally chosen as a vice-captain – stated she would enjoy the prospect of returning as skipper, also was given a surprise ninth Solheim Cup look regardless of being world number 665.
She said:”I would like to captain, absolutely. It being on the sidelines however for sure. It’s been an incredible part of my career.
“This championship has been the pinnacle by far, you can not ask for even more.
“I hope women’s golfing could catch off this enormous high, as it doesn’t get any better.
“It should have been the most astounding scenes and in case you can not inspire young girls to pick up the game now, I really don’t understand how you are going to!
“It was a dream come true for every one of us on the European team. To take action at the house of golf, Catriona being here, it’s just picture perfect”
The Norwegian was, endorsed by captaining Europe for the first time, matthew, 54 for a leadership function.
She said:”I understand people stated it was a controversial choice, but I had complete faith in her the whole time.
“For her to finish that way and then retire, it couldn’t have been a better moment. I am so pleased she’s completed on such a top note.
“I’d be thrilled if she became captain, then I am sure she would be fantastic. I could do it but it depends upon what Suzann would like to do!
“It was just such a wonderful spectacle for women’s golf. You couldn’t have asked for a better finish or anything more exciting – it will inspire people in future”
