Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers says he can know Harry Maguire abandoned the team to join Manchester United in the summer.
United signed Maguire for #80m – a world-record fee for a guardian.
The Liverpool boss stated United and his team have a special appeal.
“They [Liverpool and United] will be the two largest clubs in the nation. There are other great and big clubs but those two are above everyone else,” he explained.
“When gamers get the opportunity to go to one of those clubs and also to experience that sort of pressure and expectation – and of course there will be a financial side to it as well, where you could go and double your wages – then package, at a short career and in Harry’s era, is perhaps too difficult to turn down.
“And I understand – I receive it.”
Despite Maguire’s departure, the Foxes have been directed by Rodgers to third in the Premier League to the campaign and he believes they can start to challenge the big clubs’ dominance.
“I’ve been lucky enough having been in Liverpool, and I understand the draw that kind of club gets,” Rodgers continued.
“What we are building here in Leicester is exciting, using all the brand new training ground and the way we’re trying to progress on the field, but also for lots of players who draw is still there and that I know it.”
Leicester travel to Old Trafford to face United in the Premier League and Rodgers is aware of the job his side faces to the season compared to their opponents.
Rodgers added:”They [United] might not have achieved what they would have enjoyed over the last few decades but it is still an extremely hard spot to go and I am aware that Leicester haven’t won at Old Trafford at 21 decades.”
